Passenger Safety is Our First Priority
Every day up to 72 children can be riding on any one of our school buses. Parents, schools, and our communities depend on us to get them to school ready to learn…and return home safely. We deliver.
How do we ensure school bus passenger safety?
It comes down to quality people, quality training, and quality buses.
We hire the most qualified individuals – from our experienced operations management team, to our bus technicians to our school bus drivers – who ensure their focus on safety and the security of our passengers is at the forefront of everything we do.
Bus maintenance technicians are highly skilled and school bus maintenance professionals. Our mechanics keep up with their skills and are fully certified. Also, our bus maintenance schedules not only satisfy Ministry of Transportation guidelines, we routinely exceed them. We’re proud of our fleet, and so too are our professional team of bus technicians. That’s why our preventative maintenance program is designed not to repair buses quickly to avoid service interruptions, but to avoid unscheduled maintenance entirely.
Driver training programs at Switzer-Carty are designed to ensure every driver espouses the principles of defensive driving. Nearly all accidents are preventable and making the right split-second decisions on the road can make the difference in the lives of so many. Our focus is on “getting there safely” and every driver on every school bus route has constant contact with our team of professional dispatchers at all times for support.
Our drivers care about children. Our training doesn’t just cover good driving techniques, it thoroughly teaches pupil-passenger management skills. Whether it is to ensure a parent-guardian is there to receive their kindergarten children at a drop off to ensure student safety or to work with school staff on student behavioural issues, we have it covered.
With so much riding on our buses, safety is our first priority and we continuously work to make our industry leading programs better!
“We drive to keep you safe!”
